The World According to Louis

The title of this post is a wordplay. The World According to Garp (poor Robin Williams!). Sophie’s World. You get it? No? Yes? Great ! So who’s Louis? It’s me. Louis de Broglie. 🙂

The real Louis de Broglie was nothing but an amateur physicist when he wrote his PhDthesis, and the only reason why his supervisors gave him the Dr. title was because Einstein told him to do so. I have a PhD thesis too. I published it – in bits and pieces – on the viXra.org pre-publishing site.

So… Well… I have been trying to publish stuff in a real physics journal. But I gave up after the following exchange.

PS: I only changed the names and email addresses for privacy reasons. The email exchange itself is genuine. It explains the poor state of physics as science: they use the right equations but they don’t know what they mean. That is, perhaps, not so bad in it itself. What is worse is that anyone who is trying to find out is being ignored. :-/

PS: Oh, and keep checking my papers. 🙂

Dear Louis – Glad to hear from you. That will be great. Hope it goes well. Have a nice day.

No worries, May. I already thought so – because of my lack of academic credentials. But I was encouraged as you sent the format. By the way, it looks like the IQT-2018 Conference will accept the paper as part of its proceedings, so that’s good. 😊 Kind regards – Jean Louis

Dear May – It took me quite a while but I have finally assembled my pre-publication papers on viXra.org into one piece that, hopefully, will be crisp and academic enough to make the cut. I’ve enclosed it here. As mentioned, I am not a typical physicist. In fact, I am an economist with a knack for math and statistics. Nevertheless, I think I might have a story to tell as I was also invited for the IQT-2018 Conference next month.

I guess you will tell me what the next steps are – if any. Kind regards, Jean Louis

Dear Louis – Glad to hear from you. 1) Attached is the MS Word Template for your consideration. You can take TNR font instead. 2) We will invite some peer reviewers to make the review process. It is anonymous unless the reviewers ask the authors’ information. Hope everything has been smooth for you.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions and feedbacks by email.

Louis de Broglie <louisdebroglie@inlook.com> :

Hi May – I’ve published a fifth and final paper on the viXra.org pre-publishing site. I am effectively thinking of turning these five papers into one solid article that might meet journal standards. I opened the template you sent, but I just got various font types for various typefaces when extracting it (e.g. italic Roman 12 pt). Can you send the file in Word or pdf?

How does the review process really work? I am a writer on physics, but I don’t have a formal degree in physics (my other degrees are relevant or non-relevant depending on the reader). Is it anonymous? In that case, I have a chance, I think.

Kind regards, Louis de Broglie

Thanks for this, May. I should probably try to transform my papers on the viXra.org archive ( http://vixra.org/author/jean_louis_van_belle_maec_baec_bphil) into a proper article, but that will take time. Physics is just a hobby for me – but it’s quite encouraging. I get good feedback on my website (https://readingfeynman.org) – but not very often from academics, so I don’t immediately see whom I would recommend as a reviewer. Most people I am in touch with are math and physics teachers or professionals in some industry who are still interested in the subject – but who don’t do much with it anymore. My writing is more creative than scientific, I guess. 😊

But I’ll reach out to some people and perhaps we can put something together.

Kind regards – Louis de Broglie
